UK Black Friday spending to hit GBP £14 billion as CCL expands logistics

Fri, 21st Nov 2025

CCL is ramping up its global shipping and logistics services to support eCommerce retailers, ahead of what is forecast to be a record-breaking Black Friday sales period in the UK. The company reports growing demand for reliable transport and customs solutions as UK spending during the event is expected to significantly increase compared to last year.

Spending forecast

According to research from Omnisend, total Black Friday spending in the UK is anticipated to approach GBP £14 billion this year. This marks an increase of GBP £4 billion over the previous year, with the average shopper expected to spend GBP £299 over the sales event. Industry data suggests this growth is being driven by shifting consumer behaviour towards online shopping, enabling greater access to discounts.

Rising eCommerce demand

Retailers serving the UK are facing early signs of heightened global shipping volumes as Black Friday approaches. Many are turning to logistics providers like CCL to ensure their goods are delivered in time for the peak sales period and to support the scaling of operations across borders.

"Black Friday 2025 is expected to be a bumper year and we're already seeing early indicators of heightened global shipping volumes. At CCL, we help our eCommerce clients - no matter where they are in the world - establish logistics routes that ensure their goods arrive just in time to make the most out of the biggest sales opportunity of the year!" said Stuart Campey, CEO, CCL.

Infrastructure needs

As Black Friday becomes a more established tradition in the UK, supported by international online sellers, the need for dependable logistics infrastructure has increased. Consumers are increasingly choosing to shop for discounts online, which requires seamless cross-border shipping and customs processes.

"The Black Friday sale has seen increasing growth year-on-year, with countries like the UK now fully embracing a weekend of discounts. International online sellers have helped accelerate its popularity, connecting consumers with fantastic deals - something made possible only through an efficient global logistics infrastructure," said Campey.

Cross-border support

CCL, established in 1999, states that it has developed expertise in simplifying and expediting shipments for eCommerce retailers entering and exiting the UK and Eurozone. The company works with international entities including Chinese exporters, aiming to make goods more accessible to UK and European customers during peak periods such as Black Friday.

Scalable logistics

Through its scalable logistics services, CCL says it aims to provide shipping confidence to both global consolidators and retailers, helping them manage the increased volume of demand during high-sales periods.

"With flexibility to scale our logistics services, we provide global consolidators and retailers with the confidence to transport larger volumes of goods to the UK during high-demand sales periods - ensuring both retailers and their customers can benefit from this year's bumper Black Friday," said Campey.
