Qlik & Catalyst Cloud unveil no-code Fusion Portal
Qlik has launched Fusion Portal, a no-code front end for Qlik Cloud Analytics that presents dashboards and insights as simple web pages for non-technical staff.
The product was created by Catalyst Cloud, a Qlik independent software vendor partner based in the UK. It sits on top of existing Qlik Cloud Analytics deployments.
Qlik positioned the launch as a way for companies to extend analytics use beyond specialist teams. It said the portal can present role-based views for staff in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing and automotive.
Fusion Portal converts data held in Qlik Cloud Analytics into personalised dashboards. It presents those dashboards through a browser-based portal with no coding required by end users.
The portal draws on the same underlying licences as Qlik Cloud Analytics. Customers use it as an additional layer for distribution and presentation rather than as a separate analytics platform.
Qlik said the design focuses on frontline staff and subject experts who do not have analytics training. It said that groups such as nurses and production workers can receive targeted metrics and alerts relevant to their daily tasks.
Marcus Adams, Managing Director at Catalyst Cloud, said the goal was to simplify access to Qlik for a broader user base.
"We are simplifying analytics for everyone within a business, and making it truly work for whatever role they are doing. With Fusion Portal, everyone can get insights from Qlik without having to be a data analyst," said Marcus Adams, Managing Director at Catalyst Cloud. "We know many people don't have the time in their job - from being a nurse to a manufacturing expert - to also be a data analyst. With Fusion Portal, they don't have to be. They can access a webpage that gives them all the information they need to do their job that day and make the right decisions."
Qlik said Fusion Portal uses role-based access and personalisation features within Qlik Cloud. It said this structure supports dashboards that reflect each user's responsibilities and permissions.
The company said organisations can configure the portal to mirror their own branding. It said customers can customise the look and feel for internal users and external partners.
Early user results
Qlik highlighted several early adopters of Fusion Portal. These examples covered healthcare, chemicals and automotive services.
A global paediatric hospital has used Fusion Portal alongside its Qlik environment for three years. Qlik said the hospital has recorded a 58% increase in Qlik adoption over that period.
Staff at the hospital can assemble dashboards that match their specific clinical or operational roles. Qlik said this has increased day-to-day use of analytics across teams on the ground.
The company also cited a global chemical manufacturer that uses Fusion Portal in its customer communications. That manufacturer shares carbon footprint information for ingredients with its customers through the portal.
An automotive leasing company has built a Fusion Portal instance for its business partners. Qlik said this portal distributes insights on fleet performance and related metrics to external stakeholders.
Both organisations deployed Fusion Portal within days. Qlik contrasted this with earlier portal projects that often required several months of development work.
Partner-led product
Catalyst Cloud developed Fusion Portal as its flagship product. The firm focuses on agile software development and no-code portal tools that integrate with analytics platforms.
Fusion Portal extends Qlik's existing partner ecosystem. Partners build software that connects to Qlik Cloud Analytics and expand its reach in customer environments.
Martin Tombs, Vice President - Move to Cloud for Qlik, said the product is an example of that partner strategy.
"Fusion Portal brings the power of Qlik to the point of need, democratizing insights across entire organizations and really humanizing working with AI," added Martin Tombs, Vice President - Move to Cloud for Qlik. "It's a powerful example of how our partner ecosystem extends Qlik's capabilities and accelerates cloud adoption."
Qlik said Fusion Portal includes features for large-scale deployments. These include support for many concurrent users and controls that align with Qlik Cloud's existing governance model.
The firm said organisations can extend Fusion Portal access to external suppliers, distributors and customers. It said this can open up analytics use beyond internal staff.
Qlik serves more than 40,000 customers worldwide across data integration, analytics and AI tools. It said Fusion Portal forms part of a wider shift of its customer base towards Qlik Cloud.
The company plans further work with Catalyst Cloud and other partners on cloud-focused products that sit on top of Qlik Cloud Analytics.
