Tue, 23rd Jan 2024

Mangopay, a major provider of payment infrastructure for platforms and marketplaces, has announced the appointment of Liz Oakes as Non-Executive Director to its board. Oakes' extensive experience in the payments sector will provide valuable insights as the company aims to advance its growth across Europe and address the burgeoning needs of B2C and B2B marketplaces.

Oakes has built a prolific career in the payments industry, having held multiple prominent roles at Mastercard, where she spearheaded strategy, market, and product development. She also worked as a payments expert at business consultancies McKinsey and KPMG. At KPMG, she offered strategic advice and advisory services to central banks and financial institutions, focusing in particular on cross-border payments and the roll out of real time payments, open banking, and embedded payments.

Mangopay, which was founded in 2013 and acquired by Advent International in 2022, is currently at a phase of growth. As the provider of a flexible, modular payment infrastructure, it has earned fidelity from various leading European and global marketplaces that favour its customisable payment solutions.

Commenting on the board appointment, Romain Mazeries, CEO of Mangopay, expressed enthusiasm about the timing and the potential for growth that Oakes brings. "Liz joins us at such an exciting time in our journey and we are delighted that she will be a part of our Board, to help us design and articulate the next steps of our strategic development at Mangopay. Liz’s world-class experience will be a great asset to us as we elevate the company to its next level of growth," Mazeries said.

For her part, Oakes showed equal enthusiasm about joining Mangopay, which she sees as uniquely placed in one of the most dynamic sectors of the ecommerce market. "I am delighted to be joining the company at this key stage of growth. I am looking forward to working with Romain and his leadership team, along with Mangopay's Chairman Xavier Garambois and the rest of the Board, to accelerate the growth of this fantastic business," Oakes remarked.

Mangopay is known for empowering the platform economy with its modular payment infrastructure. Since its inception, it has supported more than 2,500 platforms and marketplaces. The company's end-to-end infrastructure caters comprehensively to platform payment needs, from pay-in to payout, for many platform business models and workflows. In recognition of its superior service offerings, Mangopay was dubbed Best Platform and Marketplace Provider at the Merchant Payments Ecosystem (MPE) Awards in March 2023, and one of the most promising cross-border payment companies by FXC Intelligence in October 2023.
