Creative Hut outsources logistics to 3PL to boost efficiency
Creative Hut has appointed 3P Logistics (3PL) to manage its fulfilment and logistics operations, marking the first time the education resources provider has outsourced these functions. The decision comes as Creative Hut seeks greater efficiency in handling its diverse product range, which spans educational kits from brands like LEGO through to high-value robotics and 3D printers.
Product complexity
Creative Hut supplies hands-on STEAM resources for learners in early years to university, as well as for teacher training and community education projects. Products include coding kits, drones, and equipment supporting subjects from computing to art and design. Some offerings, such as university-level robotics kits, have values approaching GBP £4,000, underlining the need for precise fulfilment processes and careful handling.
Its customer base incorporates schools, sports academies, independent businesses, and consumers making purchases through the company's Shopify platform. Mistakes or delays in delivery can affect ongoing educational programmes, making timely and accurate order management critical. To address this, 3PL staff have received specific training to manage the complexities and value of these educational products, with a focus on accuracy and meeting On Time, In Full (OTIF) delivery standards.
Digital integration
Creative Hut's order data will integrate directly into 3PL's proprietary Fusion platform. This system is designed to receive orders from multiple sources-including web platforms, eCommerce channels, retailers, and distributors-and manage the entire fulfilment process. Fusion generates a digital record of every order, including tracking data, and supports system-driven workflows that help to minimise errors and maintain compliance in picking and packing operations.

The integration and onboarding process for Creative Hut was completed in under three weeks, much faster than the usual twelve-week lead time often required for such projects. This accelerated schedule was driven by Creative Hut's growth and an accompanying surge in demand that required immediate changes to operations. The swift transition allowed Creative Hut to maintain fulfilment quality while adapting to increased order volumes.
Business focus
Previously, Creative Hut managed sourcing, order processing, and distribution internally-a process that limited the company's ability to focus on broader business development. By outsourcing fulfilment and logistics to 3PL, Creative Hut is now able to devote more resources to building partnerships and developing future strategy.
3PL's technology-led fulfilment approach is designed to support multi-channel commerce, handling direct-to-consumer, retail, and B2B shipments. Integration with client business systems through engineered APIs is intended to streamline two-way communication and support customers with varying operational needs.
