Point of Sale (POS) stories - Page 4
Once confined to the front of a physical store, where you would exchange cash or present a credit card
as payment for goods and services, Point of Sale today encompasses any ‘point’ at which a checkout is
encountered and payments are made. This includes websites for online shopping, both in Business to
Consumer and Business to Business transactions. Point of Sale infrastructure includes physical devices
such as purpose-designed computers and cash-handling hardware, printers, credit card terminals, and
more. Online POS infrastructure includes payment gateways and other integrated services from, for
example, organisations providing credit services.
