Wipro has expanded its partnership with Databricks and launched a dedicated business practice to support enterprise data modernisation and broader AI deployment.

The new unit combines Databricks' data, analytics and AI tools with Wipro's AI platforms and delivery framework. It is intended to help clients move beyond legacy technology estates and isolated AI projects to larger operational roll-outs.

Industry focus

The practice is built around more than 300 agentic AI and data use cases already delivered across banking, healthcare, telecoms, manufacturing and energy. Wipro plans to use that base to develop industry-specific offerings aimed at recurring operational and commercial challenges.

Target areas include wealth management and portfolio performance in financial services, supply chain planning in manufacturing and consumer goods, sales and marketing transformation in telecoms, asset visibility in energy and other asset-intensive industries, and finance transformation in planning and analysis functions.

Databricks' Genie product will form part of the offering, giving business and technical users a natural language interface for querying enterprise data. Wipro is also incorporating its WEGA delivery platform into the practice.

Enterprise rollout

The move reflects continued investment by large IT services groups in packaged AI and data practices that combine partner software with consulting and implementation work. For service providers, these arrangements offer a way to turn broad AI demand into sector-focused projects tied to existing client systems and data estates.

Wipro presented the partnership as a step beyond experimentation, as companies look for ways to connect AI initiatives to core processes and governance structures. That challenge has become more urgent as many businesses try to integrate AI tools without rebuilding fragmented data foundations.

Kanwar Singh, Managing Partner - Technology Services at Wipro, said the expanded relationship reflects a shared commitment to helping enterprises move from AI experimentation to measurable value.

"The business practice will bring together platform specialists, consulting expertise, and industry teams to co-create solutions that accelerate data transformation and enterprise-wide AI adoption," said Singh.

Databricks has become an important partner for consultancies and outsourcing groups seeking a stronger foothold in enterprise AI work, particularly where data engineering, analytics and governance are closely linked. Wipro added that its standing within that partner network had been recognised through Databricks awards for banking and innovation.

Market demand

The partnership also highlights the growing importance of industry tailoring in the AI services market. Rather than offering only general-purpose deployments, suppliers are increasingly packaging use cases around functions such as finance, customer operations and planning, where buyers can more easily assess costs and returns.

In banking, that often centres on client servicing and portfolio insight. In telecoms, it tends to focus on sales processes and customer engagement. In manufacturing and consumer sectors, planning resilience and response to wider economic shifts remain common priorities.

For Databricks, the arrangement extends its route to market through a global services provider with a large enterprise client base. For Wipro, it adds another branded practice to its AI and data portfolio at a time when technology firms are under pressure to show practical revenue opportunities from generative and agentic AI work.

Kori O'Brien, Senior Vice President, Partnerships at Databricks, said the global practice with Wipro would help enterprises build trusted data foundations and deploy production-ready AI at scale.

"Databricks helps companies unify data, analytics, and AI with governance built in, all with the most efficient cost of ownership.

This global practice with Wipro will enable enterprises to build trusted data foundations and deploy production-ready AI at scale, turning data intelligence into real, measurable business impact," said O'Brien.
