Spinnaker Support has promoted Mark Fetches to Global Chief Technology Officer, placing its regional CTOs, solution consulting team and technical account managers under a single global organisation.

Fetches will report to Chief Revenue Officer Pete Castello and join the company's go-to-market leadership team. The role unites teams responsible for customer evaluation, technical advice and account support across the business.

The reorganisation is intended to connect early technical discussions with the support customers receive after signing up. Solution consultants assessing Oracle, SAP, VMware and PostgreSQL environments will now work alongside technical account managers and regional technology leaders.

Under the new structure, Iain Saunderson, Chief Technology Officer for the Americas, will report to Fetches. Phil Wilkins, Technical Account Manager and Enterprise Technical Architect, and Sree Sakamuri, Director of Solution Consulting, will also join his organisation.

Fetches previously served as Chief Technology Officer for EMEA, where he focused on technical engagement with clients and on linking customer business priorities with the company's technical sales and advisory work.

He has more than 30 years of experience in technology consulting and leadership, including roles at Accenture, Deloitte and PwC. His past work included leading customer-facing technical teams and advising C-suite executives and boards on digital, cloud, AI and enterprise transformation programmes.

Matt Stava, Chief Executive Officer, framed the appointment around the company's customer relationships.

"Customers choose Spinnaker for the expertise of our people," said Matt Stava, Chief Executive Officer of Spinnaker Support. "Mark showed in EMEA how much customers value close technical engagement from the start. With him leading these teams globally, we can bring that same level of guidance to every region, helping customers solve immediate challenges and plan for what comes next."

The promotion comes during a period of double-digit growth, as more enterprises turn to independent support providers for greater control and flexibility in managing core software environments. Spinnaker works with more than 1,300 clients globally.

Wider changes

The appointment follows several leadership changes this year, including the hiring of Rex Young as Chief Information Officer and Vivek Pruthi as Managing Director for APAC.

Spinnaker has also promoted Martin Biggs to Vice President and General Manager of its PostgreSQL practice. That move came alongside the launch of new PostgreSQL offerings aimed at companies seeking to reduce reliance on Oracle database systems.

The business focuses on third-party support and related services for Oracle, SAP, VMware and PostgreSQL environments. Its model centres on supporting customers seeking alternatives to software vendors' own maintenance and support contracts.

Fetches is based in the UK and holds TOGAF and ITIL certifications. His remit now covers regional CTOs, solution consultants and technical account managers across the company's global operations.

In his first comments on the promotion, Fetches said the timing of technology planning is a central issue for customers weighing system changes and renewal decisions.

"The best time to talk about modernization is before an upgrade or renewal forces the issue," said Mark Fetches, Global Chief Technology Officer of Spinnaker Support. "That's when customers have the greatest freedom to evaluate their options and move forward on their own terms. By bringing together our regional CTOs, solution consultants and technical account managers, we give customers access to the right expertise from the first conversation through execution."
