SCALA & Optilogic partner on AI supply chain design
Supply chain and logistics consultancy SCALA has partnered with supply chain design software provider Optilogic, formalising SCALA's use of Optilogic's Cosmic Frog modelling platform. SCALA stated that the relationship strengthens its work in network modelling, optimisation, and scenario planning for customers facing shifting market conditions and operational disruption.
Optilogic sells cloud-based software for supply chain design. The company positions Cosmic Frog as an AI-driven platform for network design and analytics across supply chains.
Modelling focus
SCALA said it already uses Optilogic's software across client work. It described projects that include a greenfield network analysis for a home appliance brand. SCALA said the work assessed depot locations.
SCALA also cited a European network optimisation study for a fast-moving consumer goods business. It also referenced greenfield modelling for a third-party logistics provider. SCALA said that work informed warehouse relocation decisions.
The companies said the partnership combines SCALA's consulting services with Optilogic's modelling technology. SCALA said clients can run scenario analysis across supply chain networks. It said the work includes assessments of cost, service requirements and resilience.
In addition to these developments, SCALA has framed the partnership around the implementation of risk-informed network design and the rigorous evaluation of operational trade-offs. The respective organisations have described this collaborative endeavour as an integral component of broader scenario planning and advanced analytics for end-to-end supply chain management.
Furthermore, supply chain design has assumed a progressively more central role for manufacturers, retailers, and logistics providers in recent years, as businesses conduct comprehensive reviews of their sourcing alternatives, inventory management levels, and geographical distribution footprints. Consequently, software vendors have increasingly marketed sophisticated digital modelling tools for network design in tandem with the strategic advisory services provided by specialist consultants.
"This partnership strengthens our ability to help clients overcome some of the most difficult issues they face today, from where to locate assets to how to balance cost efficiency with resilience and risk. By combining SCALA's practical, evidence-led consulting approach with Optilogic's industry-leading modelling platform, we can support faster, more informed decision-making in an increasingly uncertain operating environment," said Jonathan Clark Whitehead, Head of Modelling, SCALA.
Optilogic said SCALA's consulting work spans supply chain and logistics transformation programmes.
"SCALA has deep, hands-on experience in supply chain and logistics transformation. By working together, we can make sure our technology supports better, practical decisions that genuinely help businesses shape and improve their supply chain networks," said Mack.
Industry activity
As part of this strategic partnership, both organisations have indicated their intention to exchange comprehensive insights and innovative methodologies regarding supply chain network operations. Furthermore, SCALA has announced that it will be presenting in conjunction with Optilogic and Fourier-E at a major supply chain conference scheduled to take place in South Africa in March 2026.
SCALA characterised the upcoming session as a significant milestone, bringing all three entities together for the inaugural time to facilitate high-level discussions on the intricacies of network optimisation and sophisticated supply chain design.
