HID acquires IXLA to enhance document personalisation tech
HID has acquired IXLA, an Italian company known for its laser and colour personalization systems for cards and passports, to expand its portfolio and international presence in secure credential issuance.
The acquisition aims to enhance HID's capabilities in card and passport personalization, especially in European markets and emerging economies. HID's Executive Vice President and Head, Björn Lidefelt, expressed commitment to enhancing document personalization solutions across various industries.
"Welcoming IXLA into the HID family demonstrates our commitment to providing convenient and efficient document personalization solutions across a variety of industries," he said.
"With IXLA's technology and expertise, we are better positioned for geographic expansion, particularly in the government and financial institution space."
IXLA, established in 2003 and headquartered in Romano Canavese, Italy, specialises in advanced laser and colour personalization systems for secure document issuance.
It operates in three main categories: card printers, passport printers, and application software. The company's offerings include laser desktop and mid-range solutions for government-issued credentials and low- to mid-volume passport printers with precision laser and inkjet-based colour personalization.
HID has expressed optimism about the benefits of incorporating IXLA into its Secure Issuance Business Area. Craig Sandness, SVP and Head of Secure Issuance at HID, commented on the significance of this step for the company.
"We look forward to incorporating IXLA into our growing printer and credential personalization offering," Sandness stated.
"This addition helps increase our relevance in both the government and finance space, as well as better serve users in emerging markets across the globe."
IXLA's integration into HID benefits from HID's established global sales channels and support functions. This move follows an earlier acquisition in 2015, when HID acquired IAI Industrial Systems B.V., further consolidating its capabilities in secure credential issuance.
Ettore Ghirlanda, CEO of IXLA, expressed excitement about the new venture.
"At IXLA, we are proud of our achievements spanning 20+ years of designing, developing, manufacturing, and selling advanced personalization systems," Ghirlanda said. "Now, we are thrilled at the opportunity to combine forces with HID to expand our reach and further meet growing customer needs."
