eCapital UK has passed £3 billion in invoices funded on a rolling 12-month basis, as it expands its client base to more than 1,500 businesses across the UK.

Client numbers have risen by more than 32% over the past three years. The invoice finance and asset-based funding provider has also moved its head office and southern regional headquarters in Reading to larger premises as it expands its footprint in the South of England.

The figures suggest stronger demand from smaller and mid-sized businesses for funding tied to receivables and other assets. Companies are seeking more flexible finance options as they manage cash flow, fund expansion and cope with tougher trading conditions.

The business now offers facilities of up to £10 million, allowing it to serve a broader range of small and medium-sized companies as well as mid-market firms that need larger funding lines.

Invoice finance allows businesses to raise cash against unpaid invoices rather than wait for customers to pay. Asset-based lending extends that model by using a wider pool of assets, including stock, machinery and receivables, to secure funding.

eCapital supports businesses across a range of sectors and growth stages. Its regional model includes relationship managers with sector expertise, covering industries such as food and beverage, recruitment, human resources, transport and manufacturing.

The company has operated in the UK for more than 25 years and now has five regional offices across England, Scotland and Wales. The move in Reading adds to that network and reflects the South of England's importance to its operations.

Mark Finn, Chief Revenue Officer, linked the latest figures to wider demand for working capital support.

"Invoice finance and asset-based lending solutions play a vital role in helping firms unlock working capital and achieve their ambitions.

Reaching more than £3 billion of invoices factored is a significant achievement for eCapital and reflects the strength of the relationships we have built with businesses and introducers across the UK. It also demonstrates continued demand for flexible working capital solutions as businesses look to invest, expand and build resilience," said Finn.

Regional growth

The Reading office serves as both the company's head office and its southern regional base. The move to a larger site points to expected growth in an area where competition for SME lending remains intense among banks, specialist finance houses and alternative lenders.

Specialist lenders have positioned invoice finance as an option for companies that want funding linked directly to trading activity. Demand can rise when businesses are growing quickly, face pressure on payment terms or want to preserve cash without taking on conventional term debt.

For many SMEs, delayed customer payments create a mismatch between revenue booked and cash received. Receivables-based finance can help bridge that gap, particularly in sectors with long payment cycles.

Mike Harrison, Regional Managing Director (South), described the Reading move as part of the company's broader regional strategy.

"This move is an exciting achievement for our Reading team and underlines the strength of our presence across the South. We have built strong relationships in the region by focusing on what matters most to our clients and introducers - delivering responsive support, commercial expertise and funding solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions. Reading has always been an important location for us, and our new office provides a fantastic environment for our team while creating the capacity to support our future plans. We are proud of the relationships we have built across the Southern business community and look forward to continuing to help SMEs access the finance they need to thrive," said Harrison.

eCapital UK is part of eCapital Corp, which serves businesses in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. In Britain, the group remains focused on invoice finance, asset-based lending and working capital for smaller companies that need funding aligned with day-to-day trading.

The latest milestone places the company among the specialist lenders benefiting from sustained use of receivables finance by UK businesses, with more than £3 billion in invoices funded over a rolling 12-month period.
