Debenhams Group rolls out AI for smarter stock & pricing

Tue, 18th Nov 2025

Debenhams Group has deployed a new artificial intelligence system designed to enhance its sales, stock, and pricing management across its portfolio of retail brands, ahead of the busy festive shopping season.

Operational integration

The AI solution has been developed in partnership with Peak, a company specialising in business-centric AI and owned by UiPath. It is now being implemented across all Debenhams Group brands, including PrettyLittleThing, Boohoo, BoohooMAN, Karen Millen, and Debenhams. The technology delivers real-time insights on stock levels, pricing, and promotional activity.

The new system is designed to provide merchandise teams with a clearer view of trading performance and demand shifts. It allows the group to react quickly as consumer behaviour changes during peak retail periods. The AI assists in identifying the most effective combinations of pricing and stock deployment, supporting teams with operations that require immediate data-driven action.

Decision automation

The agentic AI technology is designed to both predict demand trends and autonomously execute recommendations across various brands. By automating core trading decisions, such as price adjustments and stock movements, the system reduces the workload on merchandising staff. The company expects this to save significant time each month and increase the speed and accuracy of commercial decisions, particularly ahead of Black Friday and the broader holiday season.

The partnership with Peak began earlier this year, with an initial focus on enhancing product pricing and promotional strategies.

Wider efficiency

Debenhams Group's AI adoption forms part of a broader effort to improve efficiency and coordination across its multiple online destinations. By consolidating information from different strands of the business, the AI gives central teams a unified overview, supporting planning initiatives and inventory management on a group-wide basis.

The company's move aligns with a growing retail industry trend towards technology-driven solutions that aim to make merchandising and supply chain operations more responsive to shifting consumer demand.

Executive perspective

"As a digital-first retailer, we're embracing AI to make smarter, faster decisions that simplify our operations and enhance the customer experience. This technology will transform how we manage stock and pricing - especially during the busy festive season - and help us continue to deliver great value and service across all our brands." said Dan Finley, CEO, Debenhams Group.

Peak's involvement brings its experience in deploying AI platforms for global brands. The acquisition of Peak by automation specialist UiPath earlier in the year expanded its resources and industry reach.

"The future of retail belongs to intelligent AI systems - ones that will optimise decision making and take action alongside the business team. By bringing this level of agentic AI innovation to market, Debenhams Group is setting the benchmark for how technology can transform retail performance today," said Richard Potter, CEO, Peak.
