TiVo expands content discovery platform across 38 European countries

Yesterday

TiVo has rolled out its content discovery platform across 38 European countries, partnering with 18 major brands to assist consumers in navigating the increasingly fragmented streaming landscape. The move aims to provide a more streamlined viewing experience for users spread across various streaming services.

The expansion comes as the upcoming U.K. Video Trends Report for Q2 2024 indicates that U.K. consumers utilise an average of 6.5 content sources, spending nearly GBP £75 monthly. The report also highlights that 61% of viewers use more than one app in a single viewing session and over half find browsing multiple apps to be a significant pain point.

TiVo's platform leverages artificial intelligence to analyse viewing habits, preferences, and regional cultural nuances. By incorporating data from multiple streaming services, traditional broadcasters and local content providers, the super aggregation service facilitates a seamless user experience. It offers personalised content recommendations, making it easier for viewers to find shows, movies, live TV, and sports programs that suit their interests.

Supported by advanced metadata solutions, TiVo addresses common user frustrations linked to finding and accessing desired content across numerous platforms. The service pairs content availability data with normalised program metadata, enabling universal search, discovery, and personalisation capabilities for its operators.

Earlier this year, TiVo launched TiVo Broadband in the U.S., and it is now being introduced in Europe. This operator-branded solution offers integrated access to free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST), advertising-based video on demand (AVOD), over-the-top (OTT) content, live TV, as well as numerous subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) channels. It is designed specifically for broadband-only customers.

Gabriel Cosgrave, general manager of EMEA for Xperi, said, "Our goal is to revolutionise the way viewers discover content by providing a seamless and personalised experience. Our expanded European offerings represent a significant step forward in addressing the complex needs of our customers. We are not only simplifying content discovery but also enabling our partners to deliver more engaging and relevant content to their audiences through the introduction of TiVo Broadband. With this solution, we are bringing TV and OTT content to broadband-only customers which is attractive to the growing broadband market."

Key aspects of TiVo's offerings include comprehensive metadata coverage across Europe, enhanced discoverability and engagement for premium sports experiences, solutions to persistent attribution problems for operators, and advanced ad targeting capabilities. The service also supports monetisation opportunities for the growing SVOD, AVOD, and FAST channel ecosystem.

TiVo's offerings are designed for easy integration and quick deployment. Enhanced metadata and tagging capabilities enable more granular content categorisation, aiding hyper-targeted content search and discovery across diverse programming types.

Globally, TiVo continues to collaborate with content partners to provide relevant and timely media to its users. Hundreds of thousands of hours of content are available via TiVo+, a streaming content network offering a wide range of streaming TV and video-on-demand options.

TiVo remains committed to developing innovative solutions for the growing European market, aiming to provide value for both content providers and end users. The company continues to evolve its offerings to meet the changing needs of the entertainment industry, helping its customers to maximise audience engagement and monetisation in the current streaming landscape.
