Adobe unveils Live Co-Editing feature in Photoshop beta

Today

Adobe has announced the introduction of Live Co-Editing for Photoshop on desktop (beta) and web applications, allowing multiple users to access and edit the same document simultaneously from different computers.

This feature aims to enhance collaboration and creativity among creators, teams, and educators. Adobe believes the update will help streamline communication and accelerate content creation.

"Multiple designers can simultaneously work on a Photoshop document, splitting tasks to tackle and complete projects more efficiently, together," stated Adobe.

Larger creative teams will benefit significantly by being able to collaborate on complex projects, receive stakeholder input, and address feedback all within a single file. This development ensures that participants across various sectors, including education, can utilise the new feature to improve engagement and feedback processes.

Adobe encourages users to join its testing phase for Live Co-Editing in Photoshop. "We deeply value feedback from our community and encourage creators to sign up to test Live Co-Editing in Photoshop," Adobe added.

Participation in the testing phase will allow creatives to experience the technology first-hand and contribute to its evolution.

This announcement follows a series of recent updates guided by user feedback. Notably, in 2024, Adobe introduced several features that improved workflows in adjustments, compositing, selection, and typography. Such updates include the Remove Tool with Distraction Removal, which automatically detects and removes unwanted objects like people and wires from image backgrounds.

Another advancement includes the improved Font Browser, providing access to a vast library of over 25,000 free and licensed fonts, available in the cloud. This feature is designed to streamline font selection processes for designers by syncing new fonts across all Photoshop devices.

Options for customisation have been extended with the Selection Brush, allowing for more detailed and nuanced image adjustments and the Adjustment Brush Tool for targeted alterations to brightness and saturation.

Adobe also expanded capabilities for Generative AI with its Firefly Image Model, enhancing photographic quality and prompt comprehension.

Other updates include the development of Custom Adjustment Presets, Enhance Detail for improved sharpness in Generative Fill creations, and Bullets and Numbering support for the Type Tool.

These features aim to eliminate repetitive tasks and facilitate more efficient workflows for users.

Technical enhancements have also been applied with the addition of OpenColorIO support for better colour management and 32-bit HDR workflow compatibility. Language support has been enhanced as well with new options in Vietnamese and Indonesian.

Adobe remains focused on user engagement in its product development processes.

"Our community continuously informs and guides Photoshop's product development process. The ideas and feedback we receive are invaluable."

As creators anticipate the new Live Co-Editing feature, Adobe continues to invite active participation and feedback from its community to shape the future direction of Photoshop tools and capabilities.
