GoCardless appoints Jolawn Victor as Chief Growth Officer

Wed, 15th May 2024

Leading bank payment company, GoCardless, has announced the appointment of internationally experienced executive, Jolawn Victor, to the position of Chief Growth Officer. This is part of a series of high-level appointments aimed at beefing up the company's executive team in its current global expansion phase.

Jolawn Victor, whose experience spans over two decades, has held important roles at renowned global companies such as PepsiCo, Headspace, and Intuit. Most recently, she served as Vice President and Country Manager of Intuit UK, where she supervised the firm's go-to-market functions. With her extensive experience in various sectors, Victor is all set to bring significant value to GoCardless.

As Chief Growth Officer, Victor will head the company's global Growth Group. Her responsibilities will include primarily managing customer acquisition for SMEs, increasing incremental revenue growth, and leading brand, marketing and communications strategies. Previous roles have seen her integral in the areas of go-to-market approaches, product development, international expansion, and marketing across B2B and B2C industries.

GoCardless President, Paul Stoddart, expressed enthusiasm about Victor's appointment, stating: "We're delighted to welcome Jolawn to our executive team. With her wide-ranging experience in tech and her expertise in growth marketing, product and international expansion, Jolawn will add strength and depth to our business as we work towards our ambitious growth goals."

Adding her thoughts on the new appointment, Jolawn Victor stated: "It's an honour to join GoCardless as the company enters an exciting and pivotal phase of growth. From expanding our indirect channels to making GoCardless a household name in the UK and beyond, there are so many opportunities to pursue and I can't wait to get started."

She also added that throughout her career, she's been committed to achieving operational excellence, building high-performing teams and establishing an inclusive culture. Victor plans to contribute these qualities to her new role at GoCardless.

Victor's appointment comes on the heels of several other high-profile acquisitions by GoCardless. Last year, the company welcomed a new Chief People Officer and Head of Corporate Development to accelerate its growth. Shortly after, ex-SAP executive Franck Cohen was declared as the first Chair of the Board.

One of GoCardless' landmarks this year was the announcement of its plans to acquire account-to-account company Nuapay. This development is aimed at significantly scaling its indirect channel proposition and hastening the rollout of new disbursement capabilities. Continually diversifying its business offering, GoCardless has also made headway in the open banking space, becoming an approved supplier for both central and local government and the open banking payment provider for JustGiving.
