Ben Savage appointed CEO as Ekco eyes EUR €100 million goal
Ekco has appointed Ben Savage as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing significant industry experience to the role as the company focuses on scaling commercial operations and enhancing its customer experience amid increasing demand for co-managed security services.
Savage, who has more than 30 years of experience within the IT services sector, joins Ekco from managed service provider iomart, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer. During his time at iomart, Savage was credited with driving what the company describes as "unprecedented" sales growth and completing four acquisitions over four years.
Prior to his tenure at iomart, Savage held executive positions at managed service providers Six Degrees and Digital Space. He also played a role in expanding Pure Storage's presence in the EMEA region after its initial public offering, and has been recognised for growing a cloud service provider business to €100 million in recurring revenue and leading Fujitsu's private sector sales division.
The company said that Savage's appointment comes as demand escalates in the UK mid-market for specialist skills to manage complex cloud environments securely. A recent survey released by Ekco, the 2025 Infrastructure Modernisation Survey, revealed that close to two-thirds of IT leaders report artificial intelligence-driven threats are now overtaking traditional cyberattacks.
Savage is expected to focus on helping Ekco capitalise on emerging growth opportunities and deliver consistent, high-quality customer experiences at a time of growing adoption of cloud and cybersecurity services.
"I joined Ekco because I was genuinely impressed by the ambition of this business. The mid-market is undergoing a fundamental shift, with businesses increasingly recognising they need specialised skills to manage complex cloud environments securely. My focus will be on helping customers navigate this journey. Ekco is perfectly positioned to deliver the co-managed services these organisations need as they adapt to work-from-anywhere requirements and evolving security threats," Ben Savage said, speaking on his new role.
"Ben's track record in driving commercial transformation and scaling businesses in the cloud and cybersecurity space makes him the ideal leader to take Ekco through its next phase of growth. His customer-centric approach and deep understanding of the challenges organisations face in securing their cloud environments align perfectly with our mission to help businesses securely harness the full potential of cloud technology," Eoin Blacklock, co-founder of Ekco, said.
Ekco's announcement follows a period of expansion in the company's market footprint as it continues to position itself as a partner for cloud and cybersecurity managed services. The recent 2025 Infrastructure Modernisation Survey provides further insight into the environment in which the company and its new CEO will be operating, identifying shifting security challenges facing UK businesses.
