XR buys Telly Traffic to boost UK ad compliance ops

Fri, 6th Feb 2026

XR has acquired London-based business affairs specialist Telly Traffic, adding TV clearance and advertising delivery expertise to its ad operations platform as regulatory requirements tighten across UK campaigns.

The deal brings a specialist team with nearly two decades of experience in television clearance and delivery into XR's business affairs operation. Telly Traffic works with UK creative agencies and production companies on the compliance and approvals required to deliver adverts.

Advertising campaigns now run across linear TV and connected TV, increasing the number of formats, delivery specifications, and rights checks involved in a single campaign. Clearance requirements have also grown as regulators apply closer scrutiny to advertising content and placement.

Recent UK rules affecting advertising for less healthy food products have added further compliance steps for brands and agencies. The restrictions introduce additional approval checks across an advert's lifecycle, particularly for campaigns spanning multiple channels and versions.

Compliance workflow

The acquisition brings compliance and clearance closer to day-to-day ad operations. Business affairs tasks often sit outside the main production and delivery workflow and are frequently handled through manual processes, separate emails, and handoffs between teams.

XR's platform links asset management with rights tracking, accessibility, and cross-media delivery. With Telly Traffic joining, the business affairs team now sits alongside those functions. XR says this should reduce operational friction as campaigns move through clearance, delivery, and distribution.

The combined set-up aims to improve visibility across approvals and deliveries as deadlines tighten. It also reflects changes in ad operations, with more creative versions and more delivery destinations across broadcasters and streaming services.

UK footprint

Telly Traffic's team will join XR and continue operating from its London office. The acquisition expands XR's UK business affairs resources and deepens its local presence in a market that depends on specialist knowledge of clearance processes, broadcaster requirements, and regulatory expectations.

XR describes the enlarged group as the largest dedicated business affairs capability in the UK market and says it will be better positioned to manage evolving regulatory requirements at scale.

For agencies and brands, business affairs functions cover a range of clearance activities, including checks on substantiation and claims, audience suitability, and category-based restrictions. These steps sit alongside delivery controls such as clock numbers, clearance codes, and version management as assets move between creative, production, and distribution teams.

Client demand

Noreen Connolly, Director of Campaign Services at XR, said clients want greater accountability from ad operations partners.

"We're proud to welcome Telly Traffic to XR at a moment when advertisers are demanding higher standards of service and accountability with their ad operations partners," Connolly said. "Telly Traffic shares our client-first approach, reinforcing our belief that great service delivers better results for our clients and the advertising industry as a whole."

XR says integrating a larger business affairs team into its platform reduces handoffs and operational risk. It links the approach to the growth of cross-media delivery, where a single campaign can require approvals and delivery to multiple endpoints.

Patsy Barry, Director of Telly Traffic, said the two businesses have worked together previously.

"We're thrilled to be joining the XR team," Barry said. "We've always enjoyed a strong working relationship, so becoming part of XR feels like a natural next step. It allows us to bring our experience into an innovative business designed for today's ad-delivery realities, while delivering even higher standards of service to the clients we love."

XR says it will continue investing in its UK team and platform as compliance demands rise across linear and connected TV advertising.
